This is an illustration of chilean musician Ana Tijoux’s song of the same name. I had the idea for this zine for a long time, and getting to sell at a local Zine market this summer really gave me the push to finish it. I used my reliable injket printer, but i’m not totally sure about how the color came out These are the lyrics featured in the zine with the corresponding translation:

Español English
Tú no me puedes poner nombre No me puedes apresar, mi amor es demasiado enorme No me sujetan tus cadenas No quepo en tus embalses ni me atrapan tus sorpresas Y aunque quieras controlarme Yo fluyo río abajo sin que puedas dominarme You can’t name me You cannot capture me, my love is too enormous Your chains don’t hold me i don’t fit in your reservoirs, nor am I trapped by your suprises/traps And even when you try to control me I flow down the river without you being able to dominate me
Your bottles don’t lock me up I gift water all the way from the cordillera There’s no mining that can extract me. There’s no means for your irrigation to steal The fertile abundance, that I carry in my luggage I come here to share life on this journey There is no force that surpasses my nature Nor any machine that has my dexterity
I’m the water, I’m the life, I’m the mother of the crystaline source/fountain I’m the musical key song, I’m the key of this world as well as its potion/antidote I’m the rain that brings you the downpour. The permanent heavy rain of true love I’m the sky’s volcano. The growing lava that runs through the fields in the sky
